What Programs Exist to Help a Senior Get Hearing Aids?

While you may experience hearing loss regularly, there are many reasons you could delay seeking treatment. Some people are worried about the stigma of using hearing aids. Others believe that their cost is well beyond what they can afford. The reality is that there are various programs out there to assist seniors in getting the hearing aids they need to enhance their hearing and overall quality of life.

Veterans Health Administration

The VA has noted that hearing loss is one of the most common service-related injuries American veterans experience. In most cases, the VA will be able to provide you with free hearing aids or a significant discount on them. You’ll need to apply for healthcare coverage through the Veterans Health Administration. Once approved, you’ll be eligible for audiology care, including hearing evaluations and hearing aids.

Medicaid

Medicaid may cover some or all of the costs related to your hearing evaluation and hearing aids. The amount of coverage will highly depend on the state you live in. Some states will cover all the costs associated with your hearing devices. In contrast, others may not cover audiology costs at all. It’s best to check with your state’s Medicaid office or our office to discover what your state covers.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program

If you haven’t retired and need hearing aids to perform your job tasks or obtain new employment, you may be covered under the vocational rehabilitation program. This program offers hearing aid coverage in some states as long as you qualify for vocational rehabilitation services. You should check with your state vocational rehabilitation office or our office to determine your eligibility for this program.

Private Insurance

Many private insurance companies will cover the costs of hearing assessments and fittings. Some companies will even cover some of the costs associated with getting new hearing devices. Figuring out what coverages you have and what hearing aids you can obtain with those coverages can be confusing, to say the least. Fortunately, our helpful representatives can handle insurance assistance to determine your coverages and relay them to you in an easy-to-understand fashion.

Flexible Payment Solutions

If you don’t qualify for any of the programs above, we offer flexible payment solutions to our customers. We know that everyone’s budget is different, and you need a payment plan tailored to your needs. Please speak with one of our representatives to establish a customized payment solution that fits your budget.
