With our lifestyle today, we engage in many activities and frequent different places for fun and entertainment. Unfortunately, these usually aren’t always the healthiest of choices. Studies have found that, today, hearing is commonly damaged due to certain spots that we repeatedly visit. Take note that the healthy amount of sound is 85 decibels.

Clubs And Bars

The noise in these locations are so loud that we have to scream just so the person beside us could get what we are saying. This is a clear indicator of an unhealthy intensity of noise. The noise here could reach 115 decibels to 120 decibels.

Who hasn’t enjoyed dancing to the music so loud that you could feel it’s beat running throughout your body? But next time you might want to think twice when your friend invites you for a night out. Weddings, birthday parties and other similar events that are mostly hosted by families and friends, are no exemptions from possible ear-damaging noise. Bands and DJ’s found at these events tend to play music at powerful volumes.

As much as we love the celebrant or whoever is throwing the party, health should always come first. See to it that you are seated away from the speakers and at a healthy proximity from the band. If seating arrangements are fixed, ask to be transferred.

Sporting Arenas

Chants of the team people are rooting for echo through these monuments, but as joyous as the sight is of men and women yelling at the top of their lungs, this has proven to have negative effects to the ears.

When coming to these events, it’s best to wear noise protection devices, that are able to cancel out a certain amount of the noise, so you are still able to hear and participate in the festivity.

Schools

Ironically, this may be a place we feel where children are safe yet their sense of hearing might be at risk. Activities held in schools may at times exceed the appropriate level of noise. Not to mention some bells in these establishments are well beyond tolerable extents of sound.

If you have a child in school, see to it that the educational institution your kid goes to assures that anything in the area that produces a sound is at least 85 decibels or below. Otherwise, talk to whoever you should about it. The institution most likely, would be willing to listen to a concerned parent.
